About Dr. Henzel:
Practice Owner
Hello, and welcome to Neuroconverge! I’m Dr. Julie Henzel (she/her/hers), and I am an Ohio-licensed psychologist and school psychologist. Since entering the field in 2003, I have worked in various settings such as public schools, outpatient centers, and specialty Autism centers. Some of my areas of expertise are as follows:
Autism and developmental disabilities
Psychological assessment
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and learning issues
Adaptation of therapeutic strategies to meet different learning, processing, and communication needs
Diagnosis and treatment of autism with extensive mental health involvement/complex presentations
Diagnosis and treatment of neurodivergence in girls, women, and gifted individuals
Consultation on educational needs and programming
On a personal note, as a neurodivergent psychologist and proud parent to two neurodivergent children, I feel that my personal experiences have added depth to my professional skills by allowing me to develop a more authentic understanding of how neurodiverse brains work, common situations that my clients and their families encounter, and the importance of treatment recommendations that are practical for real life. Also, as a woman diagnosed with ADHD during adulthood, I am very sensitive to the challenges and barriers that neurodivergent girls and women often face in obtaining appropriate and timely diagnosis and treatment.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and numerous pets (dogs, cats, ferrets, and a horse), going on hikes, singing in a local choir, doing yoga, binge watching reality TV, and researching random information on the internet. Being in nature is my “happy place.”

I am passionate about using evidence-based, trauma informed practices to teach safe and functional communication and to support meaningful behavioral change that is important to the individuals and families that I serve. I strive to provide compassionate, person-centered care that celebrates each individual’s strengths, emphasizes autonomy and empowerment, and promotes growth in ways that matter most to them.
On a personal note, I am married and a “dog mom” to two poodles who keep my home full of joy (and a little bit of mischief). I love adventuring with my dogs, experimenting in the kitchen, traveling, finding a good Netflix series, and nurturing my little jungle of houseplants.
